Internship Guidelines
We’ve created a guideline to support you throughout the hiring process and to help you understand what companies expect from an intern.
- Getting Started: Begin by identifying what you want to learn, the type of role you’re interested in, and the industry you prefer. Make a list of options so you can make an informed decision.
- Professionalism Matters: Be punctual, dress appropriately, and address your potential employer as Mr. or Ms. When hired, make sure to attend all meetings and phone calls as requested. Professional behavior is key.
- Honesty is Important: Answer all questions truthfully. For example, if you don’t know how to create a poster on Canva, don’t claim you can. Instead, say: "I’m eager to learn and would be happy to assist in creating the poster."
- Clear Communication: Be upfront about your availability, work hours, and the tasks you’ll be handling. Once you commit, stick to your schedule and meet your deadlines. Failing to do so could affect your chances of receiving an Experience Letter.
- Take Initiative: Proactively seek out learning opportunities and go the extra mile to achieve your goals. This is a highly valued trait in corporate environments, as employers may not always have time to give detailed instructions.
- Ask Questions: Clarify any uncertainties with your employer. Don’t hesitate to ask relevant questions if something is unclear.
- Stay Connected: Maintain regular communication with your employer via email or WhatsApp. You can refer back to these conversations if needed.
- During the Interview: Understand the role clearly and ask specific questions if anything is ambiguous.
- Do Your Research: Before the interview, research the company’s history, business operations, presence in the UAE, and any social media presence. This will give you an advantage and show your preparedness.
- Managing Multiple Offers: If you receive more than one internship offer, choose the one that best aligns with your interests. Be sure to inform the other companies of your decision if you decide to go with another offer.
